Rockin’ Movie Meltdown: Big Trouble in Little China

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

PLEASE READ!!!! I ran into some really bad computer problems that deleted the clips I used in my review. So I had to go back and record all new audio. I didn’t have time to write down notes or shit so look past the stuttering. Not one of my better reviews, but its OK.

Film Review: Big Trouble in Little China

    Monday, May 24th, 2010

If there is one thing you can say for director John Carpenter is that he isn’t one for being unoriginal as Big Trouble In Little China is one of the greatest cult films of his career which spans more cult films than any other genre director (including The Thing, Halloween, Escape From New York, and countless others). Big Trouble is an amalgamation of everything from Chinese mysticism, fantasy epic, martial arts extravaganza, and the kitchen sink all rolled up into one and Carpenter pulls it off without batting an eye.

He does have help in the form of his frequent collaborator Kurt Russell who has starred in many of his best films including The Thing and Escape From New York & L.A. as well as Dennis Dun and Victor Wong (both in Carpenter’s Prince of Darkness). The film’s special visuals effects were ground breaking at the time and still hold up today against most of the CGI effects on display in current films. The film works best as a comic fantasy where anything that can will happen and the search for a “girl with green eyes” is tantamount to the search for a virgin in many vampire films.

I would explain the plot but if you haven’t already seen it I sure don’t want to spoil the fun for you. Only you should know that Carpenter seemed to have as much fun making the film as you’ll have watching it (or re-watching it as the case may be). It’s also one of the films in which Russell has become a household name playing Jack Burton the truck driver with little care in the world other than getting through each day with as few hiccups as possible.

Carpenter is best known for his horror films and his sci-fi films but here he effortlessly blends the two together in one of his best displays of filmmaking.

    Trouble traveling with my puppy…?

    Friday, April 30th, 2010

I have difficulties in traveling in the car with my 10 month old (Jack Russell / Chihuahua mix). When my husband and I travel everywhere with her (the dog park, PetSmart, etc.) which they usually love on my lap and the car drives, but when I do I’m alone with her in the car, I have it strapped in general her belt / safety belt. The problem is when she goes so she poops every time! She never does it work when they travel on my lap, only if they sit alone. I have placed a puppy pad under her and even got her a “traveling office”, but has not done anything good. People have told me that she is just nervous and it made sense, but I’ve since she was 3 months old, and one would think it would be good from now to 10 months old. Any advice on what I can do or how I get them to stop? Thank you!

I just got a 3 year old Jack Russell and I’m having trouble house training her?

    Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Is it possible to form their home at that age? I was told by previous owners, who moved into a building free of the company, which responded to puppy pads, but now I feel as if we were lying. I tried everything I know to always get behind the sofa or under the beds to do their business. We have a law allows, so you can not let her roam free as a dog outside, but I can not stand through the house either! Any suggestions on what I could do??
