About Mad Jack Russells

I’ve been round dogs all of my considerably long life, and I can definitely say that in the sanity department, Jack Russells take the biscuit. My four- year old Dolly, though adorable, is quite obviously, certifiably mad. After several conversations, my nephew Robert came up with the idea for MadJackRussells.com

Not only that, but from a colour point of view, she doesn’t conform to the norm. I picked her out of a squirming litter of puppies in a cardboard box principally because she stood out from amongst the rest. Nearly all of them were white in colour, with a random scattering of black or brown patches. Dolly, was instantly recognisable, since, besides being the only bitch, when seen from above, she was totally black. A white chin, a similar tiny white patch on her chest, and a narrow white stripe underneath, were the only indications of her J.R. origins.

Her tiny paws and belly were a brindled colour. Alas, it appears that such colouring would disqualify her from membership of the Jack Russell Club.

Still, I mustn’t knock her entirely. In the rat catching department, she has proved her worth more than once. Thanks to her single- handed (pawed?) abilities, these premises are vermin free.

My only quarrel with the breed is that they seem impervious to any form of training.

I have been attacked, (in the friendliest sort of way, of course), from not only ground level, but from above my head, by a canine flying object which thinks it’s mountain goat, and loves to throw itself at me from the top of any available piece of furniture. Expensive eye – glasses have been chewed up, and Dolly has given me black eyes and a thick lip in the course of exuberant game playing. Jack Russells are noisy when you need quiet, and boisterous when all you want is a nap.
